Contractor quote comparison worksheet

Two seawall quotes rarely price the same job. One includes the permit fees and the surveys; the other lists them as exclusions and comes in lower. This worksheet puts every line that commonly differs in one column per contractor, so the gaps show. Where a quote says nothing, write “not stated” — that is an answer too, and the question to ask next.

Before you use it

Compare the approach firstA quote to repair panels and restore the cap is not comparable to one for a new wall in front of the old one. Our cost page sets out the three approaches.
Make the elevation explicitEvery quote should state the finished cap elevation and its datum. A height without a datum cannot be checked against your city's rule. See the NAVD88 entry.
Verify the licence yourselfLook the licence number up with the issuing authority and ask the insurer, not the contractor, to confirm the certificate of insurance. Write the date you checked.
Ask about lien releasesFlorida has statutory release forms for each payment. See release of lien.
