The term Broward County and its cities use for a seawall or any other structure or feature that keeps tidal water off the land behind it. The wider word matters because the elevation standard attaches to the barrier, not only to a wall. Pompano Beach, for example, does not require a seawall where another measure is an equally effective tidal flood barrier. Broward's standard is set in Broward County Code Sec. 39-407, Art. XXV, and the county's cities adopted it in their own codes, some with stricter terms. The Broward page sets out the county figure and which cities depart from it.
