Filter fabric

A geotextile placed behind a seawall, across the joints between panels and behind weep holes, that lets water through while holding soil back. It is what stops the yard washing out through the wall. When the fabric tears or breaks down, soil can be carried through the gaps on every tide, and the first visible sign is often a depression or sinkhole behind the cap rather than anything on the face of the wall. Replacing fabric means excavating behind the wall, so a quote should say whether it is included, along what length, and who restores the ground afterwards.
